15-Year Reunion Buzz

Can you believe that it has been 15 years since we walked the hallowed halls of Clarkston Senior High School? 15 years since you "poufed" your bangs, pegged your pants, and drove your friends to Little Caesars in your Escort?

First, a big THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to respond to our brief online survey that was announced in October. We received a lot of very helpful feedback, and wanted to let you know what we were working on for our upcoming 15-year reunion.

Second, a big THANK YOU to those who wrote to us with updated contact information and general suggestions; your help is invaluable!

We haven't yet set a date. We're waiting to find out available dates for certain venues, so for now we're just tossing around some event ideas and wanted to bring you up to speed on what direction we're heading.

We're working on 3 events. Most respondents indicated that they would appreciate having a few opportunities to reconnect with classmates, sort of make a weekend out of it. BUT - we want to be was clear to everyone that there is one "Main Event"; the 15-Year Reunion on Saturday night - and that the other two events should really be "extra" - meaning that if you can only attend one of the three events that are offered, please do your best to attend the actual Reunion Saturday night. We're happy to arrange some additional events, but the last thing we want is for the extra events to jeopardize turnout for the actual Reunion.

15-Year Reunion Main Event: Saturday Evening, Adults Only
Appetizers and Cash Bar, Venue TBD (But within 10 miles or less of Clarkston).
We're working on some entertainment; perhaps a live band. Our target ticket price is $50 or less per person. Many of you expressed concern that past events have been pricey, so we're going to stick to a $50 or less ticket price - but please recognize that any mailings, promotion, updated classmate directories, taxes & gratuities, etc. will have to be funded by ticket sales, so going much less than $50 will be tricky.

The more people who attend, the lower the ticket price, so start encouraging your CHS Class of 1991 friends to plan on attending! On that note: The reunion is open to anyone who attended CHS in our class - they need not have graduated from CHS to be welcome. If you are in contact with persons who attended, but did not graduate with us, please let them know that we would love to see them. We can be reached by email at chs1991reunions@yahoo.com.

Extra/Optional Event: Friday Evening, Public Restaurant/Bar, Venue TBD (within 10 miles or less of Clarkston).
This event will be an informal Meet & Greet/Kickoff for the reunion weekend. We're considering venues that are also family restaurants, so your entire family would be welcome if you wanted to bring them along. We are not organizing anything except for the date, time and location - so you'd be responsible for your own food/drinks at the event.

Extra/Optional Event: Saturday Mid-day, Public Park (not beach), Venue TBD (within 10 miles of Clarkston).
This event will be a casual family picnic. Ticket price is TBD, but we're shooting for less than $10 per adult and less than $5 per child under 14. We'll take care of the location and the food/beverages for those who RSVP, and we'll be sure to wrap up the event in plenty of time for the reunion later that evening.

So to recap in order of events:
Friday Night Kickoff at a public bar/restaurant
Saturday Lunchtime Picnic at a public park
Saturday Night Reunion at a private banquet facility or other semi-formal venue

Please feel welcome to comment, suggest, recommend - any input is welcome.

We're still looking for help from anyone that wants to get involved - please contact us at chs1991reunions@yahoo.com, or call Kari Upham at (248) 797-5011.

Thanks!
